So last night, expecting to wake up around a 9 as I went to bed on a 9, thats usual for me but went low enough to set libre alarm off at dropping past 5. Didnt go far had a mouthful of oat and honey bar as I was hungry anyway and finger prick test showed I was on a 6. Stayed around 7 until I woke up at about 6.30am on an 8. Had my usual breakie, prebolused for the usual 25 mins and the usual bolus for my brekkie and had my usual basal. 45 mins later after my brekfast I had dropped past my alarm trigger suddenly and was on 5.2 while out getting my paper. I drank a whole bottle of gluco juice and then once that was up hovered around a 9. Then as I was so hungry at 10am (3 hours after my bolus) had a snack of about 6g of carbs. Now usually that would have sent me to an 11 but was still around a 9.

Is this the weather making me run low as I always thought I went high when it was hot. But having said that my stress levels have dropped off heaps since the last bought of hot weather that we had.

Hi Gill why do you think these figures are low? For me they would be a good range with 9 being the upper level of where I would want to be and 5 perfect. But obviously there may be a reason why you think these are low figures.

Because I had a whole bottle of glucose juice, plus my snack, 20gms more of carbs than I usually would with the amount of insulin I had. If I hadn't had the glucojuice I would have had a hypo as I dropped suddenly 45 mins after my breakfast.

You may need to reduce your basal as well as your bolus - if it IS the warm weather causing it. And I usually need less insulin when it's hot.

@trophywench yes I will if I drop past the alarm again tonight. I've dropped my lunch today by one unit so see what happens. It's much warmer today than it was yesterday.

This extremely hot weather is making me go low too @gillrogers whereas it normally makes me high. I’m going to cut my basal now I’ve got proof that it’s definitely not random one-off lows. I’ve had to eat extra carbs too, and my post-meal checks have been lower than expected.

Snap @Inka !

I've had 2 hypos this morning already. It is scorching here today and I was out pruning my apricot tree in full sun so that is almost certainly the cause. I have just had a large protein rich meal to try to stabilize me for this afternoon as I am going over to my sister's to ride out with her and don't want to get stranded with a hypo on the roadside or hypo whilst riding.

Just when I thought I had got my basal up to where it needed to be yesterday and nicely balanced it looks like I may need to consider a reduction tomorrow. Arrgh!

Hope you manage to get your levels stable Gill.... and Inka

Hi @rebrascora , yes I was just well on the road to finally sorting my basal and ratios and same thing happens. As my dB nurse and Dietitian says DB is full of surprises, so good some not so . Have a lovely uneventful ride this afternoon.

Yep, I’ve been trending down, down, down all week with the heat - and I’ve been more sedentary than usual. It’s a summer tweakathon!

Hot days make my BGs drop too @gillrogers

Take care over the weekend, and check more often!

Snacks or reduced doses would be worth considering.

Intrestingly this morning @everydayupsanddowns , I reduced my dose and ended up being busy on my feet and was expecting to have to snack but didn't . It's getting to hot for me now so I'm going to be sat on my bum after lunch so have had a full bolus , and I'll keep an eye. Yesterday I was so hungry all day but not so today. I'll keep my eye one it. And my sensor will keep me aware before I get too low if I do.
