Hi Tosh, welcome to the forum 🙂 First of all - don't panic! If your next appointment is scheduled for next year then this means that they have noticed some background changes but that no treatment is necessary. You have probably been told to discuss it with your doctor so that you can ensure that your treatment and blood sugar control is good, and also your blood pressure, which can be a factor.

Many, many people get similar results and things can remain unchanged for many years, or even disappear completely by the time you have your next scan. The main thing is to try and manage your diabetes well and keep your blood sugars as steady and close to normal as you can. I am sure your doctor will be able to put your mind at ease - let us know how things go.

Any other questions you may have, please ask away! 🙂

Welcome Tosh.

Northerner has already given you the facts - and life is usually easier to cope with when you know the facts 🙂

Welcome to the forum from me as well! 🙂

When I developed background retinopathy, I was given another appointment in six months' time; but the problem probably resolved itself, as from the next appointment I reverted to annual.

As others have already said, there's nothing to worry about unless you're called in for treatment -- and you'll probably be told if there's anything to worry about then. 🙂
