Hi i have a 5 year old son, and in july 2009 we found out he has type 1 diabetes. His coping really well with it, his big and brave, not like me, im finding it hard 2 cope with, im still so bitter that he will have 2 live with this. im babying him so much, giving him his own way, which i know is not good for him or me. will our lives ever go back to normal?

Hello, welcome to the forum, i cant begin to understand what it is like to have a diabetic child. there are lots of mums on here though who im sure will be here soon to give you support or offer advice.

Im just wondering if this should be placed on the thread board so you get more replies? sure a mod will be along soon to help you, take care, x
 
Hi Emma, welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed at the age of 21 so no experience of diabetes in children but from my experience I would say that it does get back to 'normal' eventually, of course normal then may mean something different but it is amazing how injections and blood tests soon become a way of life and the imposition seems to lessen.

Of course there are many other considerations when it comes to children with diabetes. There are many other parents on the site who I know will be along soon with a lot of useful advice.

Do look through the threads on here and do ask any questions you like.

Welcome along Emma Jayne, there are a lot of parents here too who will no doubt put your mind at ease, normal, well what is that?? Good luck, see you around and feel free to come on here and rant, quizz us whenever you want.
