I'e had diabetes type 2 for 5 years and very well controlled, however last 6 months I've been having a lot of mental health issues and binging on stuff. My hba1 was 71 this time and I'm constantly getting 11.4 etc on my blood readings.

I've been put on metformin 500mg and soon 1000mg. It' been 2 days and no improvement.

I don' get out much due to my back and mental health but I try and I don' eat that much either.

One meter said 12.6 today and I tested on another and it said 8.6, I wish I had more accurate meter .

I don't know what to do and am scared incase the pills won' work, then what:(
It' making my mental health worse all this .

You need to be patient - Metformin needs to build up gradually in your body before you see much difference at all, if the first low dose does anything anyway.

Usually takes up to 3 weeks for any change of doseage to show much at all.

As far as I know the effect of Metformin is to interfere with the release of glucose from the liver, not to reduce the level of glucose in the blood directly.
If you want to lower your blood glucose cutting back on the carbohydrates you eat will have a huge effect.
