🙂if I am stressed or anxious because of something thats happened can it make your readings climb too high ?

Stress can certainly have an adverse effect on your levels. The stress causes the release of stress hormones which in turn stimulate the liver to produce more glucose, thus raising levels. In a non-diabetic person this would be countered by the release of extra insulin should levels climbe above normal range, but with diabetes this may not happen.

Thanks

cheers thanks very much I really will have to start & try to avoid certain things 🙂

Although stress and anxiety can increase blood sugars they extent to which it occurs is very dependent on the individual.

It sounds like you have a certain recurring situation that causes you problems, may be test to see how it affects you. Certain stressful things can't be avoided so maybe consider learning some relaxation techniques which whilst they won't deal with the stress may lessen the effect the stress has on you.

Thanks

🙂thanks very much I'll look on the web for ideas 😎

Re Driving - did you read the link I posted it should help you work out what you need to do if you have a UK licence.

Me - well I will test before driving and follow the DVLA recommendations. ie Have a snack if levels are between 4 and 5. If I found I was below 4 (which hasn't actually happened when I have been about to drive) I would treat the hypo then once back above 4 wait 45 minutes to drive. I don't make long journeys but the DVLA recommends on long trips you test every couple of hours and you should keep some snacks in your car in case of emergency.

If you have any concerns about whether you should be driving or not - you should talk to your Dr. They should be able to talk things through with you.

Hi what sort of snacks would you have biscuits or something?? hope i'm not being to nosey ?? 🙂
