HEALTH campaigners are calling on people to get themselves checked for diabetes as they raise awareness of the condition.
Members of the South Tyneside Diabetes UK group will be at the Central Library today, to mark World Diabetes Day.
They will be hand to offer information and support to those diagnosed with the condition which affects around 8,500 people in South Tyneside.
They will be joined by health trainers and eye and feet screening community commissioners.
