A Hba1c of 4.6! Isn’t that about a 26? I’ve never heard of a level that low.

Great result all round 🙂

Fabulous, well done topcat. 🙂

Topcat An HbA1c of 4.6% = 26.8mmol/lol. This means that you are non diabetic. Excellent numbers. Well done you. You've beaten me by far ~ my last HbA1c result was 5.1% = 32mmol/lol. I'm sorry but I haven't a clue how low an HbAa1c can go ~ or if ineed it's safe to go even lower ~ but your 4.6% is certainly not bad.

What did the doctor/nurse say about it? It is very low, although I have seen similar here in the past. Are you currently on any medication for your diabetes? Is there a possibility you may be anaemic? This can have an effect on the test. How do you feel generally?

Topcat...your HbA1c results indicate you are now in the non-diabetic range...which should be between 4-6mmols...normally HbA1c is given in mmols...sometimes it may be given in % as yours have...a percentage of 4.6 roughly converts to 27mmols...so no you shouldn't worry...that's fine...well done on the weight loss...cholesterol results & your diabetes management...you've obviously worked hard...if you do have any worries you can discuss that with your DSN...who I have no doubt would have expressed her concern during your appointment.

Actually, I'm now wondering if it was 4.6% or if it was actually 46 mmol/mol and you might have misheard it - I think everywhere now has got round to giving the new units of measurement (which were introduced in 2010, but it's taken a while for even healthcare professionals to get used to!). This would convert to 6.4% in the old method, and sounds much more likely. 46 mmol/mol is just inside the non-diabetic range (48 mmol/mol indicates diabetes) and is a great achievement - and nothing to worry about @topcat123 ! 🙂 Well done! 🙂
