Hi all,
Good news for a change! We got a letter today off our DSN inviting us to a meeting with the pump reps - 'so that Alex can familiarise himself with the pump with a view to him going on one'! :DWOOOOPPPEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell i am pleased?:D

I know pumps are not a magic wand that will make diabetes dissappear - but they are the closest thing to a pancreas - so WOOOOPPPEEE!!!!!!!!!

Also we got the results of a biopsy regarding 2 moles Alex had taken off his back - NO skin cancer! WOOOPPPEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

So Patricia, keep writing your diary - we will need it soon (well i hope its soon!) - can we keep it as a sticky for future reference please?:D

Hope your all ok. :DBev

Hi Grahams mum, I fully understand your concerns about boys being rough and tumble! But i do know of at least 10 boys who have a pump and they play rugby, football, trampolene, and all sorts of very rough sports! Their pumps dont come off and they dont break. They are older than your son and behave in a very active way - so i would think that if that is the only worry you have about a pump - then there is nothing to worry about! The very worst thing that can happen is that the 'set' comes off - but this can easily be replaced with a new one. I am not trying to alter your mind set if you really dont like the idea of a pump - lots of people dont want a pump and i understand that - i just wouldnt want you to base your decision on whether your child is active or not.🙂 Bev

at the moment MDI are fine nand graham did see apump on the group E.D.D.Y in easbourne and he does not like the idea and i think that with a pump you are always reminded that you are diabetic with MDI inject and go and at the moment will be too difficolt to count and check what he eat i know is a very personal view mybe will change how graham is growing [in italy is very common to have a pump but i dont know the criteria for having one]

Thats great news really pleased for you both.

Great news Bev!!!! SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you! 🙂🙂🙂

Absolutely brilliant news bev! Just super. You will find it STAGGERING in so many ways. Lunch for me now!

EXCELLENT NEWS BEV!!!!!!

Really pleased and it is about time someone was helpful in your healthcare team! When you have met with them I would love to hear how it went. With mine I always new what companies I had the option of (ie either medtronic or medtronic or medtronic) until I got there and someone had just started on an animas and they got their foot in the door. It was all very interesting anyway, shows healthy competition and choice.

I hope this works out for you both! Keep me posted. There sure will be a few more pumpers on here in the coming months! x
