Hi and welcome to the forum.

Hi wirralass, welcome to the forum 🙂 Have you been diagnosed long? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have! 🙂

Hi Stitch147 and Northerner admin. Thanks for replying....so quickly too I apprec. I was diagnosed T2 April last year. Could have blown me over with a feather, shock & disbelief on hearing the results. Initially I went into denial (anyone else feel the same?) Attended a 6wk diabetes programme, that was both interesting & enlightening. My GP prescribed glucophage metformin but the side effects (you know what they are!) kept me more or less housebound, as a result I was then prescribed sukkarto metformin 1000mg x 2 daily. But alas the side effects returned. So I was taken off metformin all together some 4wks ago. Urgent dashes to the loo stopped, great, back to normal. Doing my best to manage my diabetes with a healthy diet, exercise & monitoring my BGLS.....and trying to be cheerful. Take care.

Welcome. I think your body will get used to metformin but a big dose like that straight away would have that effect. Try starting with say 250mg with your breakfast until your body gets used to it, then add 250mg with your dinner then after a while you can increase to where you need to be. I find I can take 500mg three times a day but cannot take 1000mg all in one go. I also have the same affect with slow release.

Hi peeps! Thank you all for welcoming me to the forum. I apprec your kind comments. It means a lot to me. I feel it in my bones that there will be some interesting & humorous posts to read. It's good to talk & discuss with other people who suffer with diabetes isn't it, i'm sure I will benefit & hope i can contribute similarly, well I'll do my level best so until then, take care.
Must dash, going to make a pan of healthy heartwarming chicken & veg soup, yummy!
