Hello there,

So us diabetics seem to be more prone to getting illnesses and fighting them off! What are the precautionary measures that I should take during winter in order to avoid sickness? I am newly diagnosed so this will be my first winter as a type 1 diabetic. I have received the pneumonia and flu injections which is a start but my main fear is stomach viruses!

Thanks guys.

Providing your not allergic to (I think ) eggs , a yearly flu jab which I see you have done
TBH I have found I am no more susceptible to colds etc than before but they do play havoc with glucose control . Do you know the sickday rules for T1 .?

With regard to winter vomiting disease, don't mix with children and don't go close to anyone who has just recovered from it. And wash your hands frequently. Virtually nothing can stop you getting a cold.

I have had the pleasure of that once hopefully never to be repeated.
