Hello, can anyone recommend which wines have the lowest carbs. Thanks
 
You are fine with any dry wine. Avoid sweet desert wines and sweet sherry
 
Dry wine, probably a red, would be the lowest carb but there is not a lot in it, so if you have a favourite and it is not going to be a regular occurrence then have that and don't worry too much.... unless your favourite is a sweet dessert wine!

Something like a Muscadet, a very dry crisp wine. Will have less than 1gram. I find recommending a wine to someone I don't know an extremely difficult thing to do. It's all down to the palate, and cost. A reasonable muscadet can be got for around £12. I wouldn't pay less than that unless you want to sprinkle it on your salad..
 
My initial answer would be yes please!
Just had a look on carbs and cals app at Red wine, it shows a large glass of red as 1g of carbs and a large white as 2g.
 
I do not need to bolus for wine.
But take care when drinking alcohol.
Our liver usually drips glucose which is mopped up my out basal dose. When our livers come across alcohol, it considers it toxic and stops dripping anything until it has dealt with the "poison". As a result, we could experience a lower blood sugar for up to 24 hours after drinking.
This definitely does not stop me drinking, but I make sure my blood sugars are a little higher than usual when I go to bed.
 
You don’t need to worry about carbs in normal table wine. Just go for what you like - red, white or rose. It’s only the really sweet wines that can have an effect, particularly the cheapy ‘British’ wines because they’re low alcohol and high sugar. But they’re also revolting so that makes them easier to avoid!
 
Yes, I like Merlot too.
 
Another vote for Merlot - but for sunny lunchtimes, a Fitou slips down nicely too! (but there again so does an icy Campari & orange juice but then of course there are the carbs in the OJ to contend with - easier to stick with a 'boring old' G&(slimline) T probably!
 
Merlot or Malbec for me.
 
I have been reading about the cold weather having frosted many of the French vines - it is thought that as much as 1/3rd of the crop is lost this year - good thing I prefer Italian and German wines.
 
I used to love a dessert wine with pudding - a nice glass of Sauternes
 
Don’t forget the total calories, mind. Carbs aren’t a problem, but your weight could go up if you are thinking half a bottle of wine a day isn’t a BG problem. It isn’t, for sure. But...

When I lived in the midlands the new estate I lived on had crab apple trees on the grassy bits on the corners. I used to make crab apple wine as they produced tons of fruit. It needed to be kept for a while, until the sediment settled, but it was very good. Just the right balance of acid and sugar. I even had someone trying to work out what part of the world it came from and he was surprised to be told that it was not made from grapes.
 
Any wine seems fine for my BGs. Beers and ciders on the other hand I have to be a bit more careful with.

And yes... there is a big calorie hit involved.
