the very service NHS track and trace designed to tell us the public we may have covid 19 the staff in a NHS call centre Lanarkshire have only contracted the virus and now they have all been told to get tested! quite amused me when i heard this.

may be they couldn't follow the rules which they so like to impose on us.
 
Schadenfreude? Don't mock the people who are working hard to protect us.
 
That's not good news whatever it is, when people need an ambulance cos they're having a heart attack/can't breathe/in a fire/road accident etc.

Track & trace surely is all “virtual”? It’s done online, as far as I’m aware. They don’t go knocking on doors or come into contact with infected people?

Lanarkshire is in Scotland, which has an entirely different track and trace system to England, so it does use personal visits and knocking on doors, as well as telephone if available. Not every old biddy has an online presence, which is what is hampering the English system. The other thing hampering the English system is in not telling local public health professionals who has been contacted, and who not. Not what you might call joined up thinking.

That's what happens when you use private companies with no experience to run your test and trace system. It's also one reason why the per capita death rate in Scotland is a quarter of that in England, along with the population complying with the common sense and clarity they have been getting from NIcola Sturgeon, unlike the confusing gibberish spoken by Boris Johnson.
 
I'd like to add an amendment to my last post. The infection rate in Scotland is one fifth of the English rate, the death rate close to zero.
