I have a scan booked on August 13th to see what is going on with my gallbladder.
The scan is booked for 2.45pm, and it says to fast for 6hrs before hand. Is it going to be safe to fast for 6hrs in the day, or should I ask if I can have an appointment for 1st thing in the morning?

timing

HI When I had an appointment I rang and askes if I could go in early due to diabetes and the put me in first, it is always worth asking

Going on my own scans for the gallbladder, they are not always on time with appointments so you could be waiting longer than you think.

I thought that if you had diabetes you should let the hospital know and they will offer you one of the first appointments of the day ? Thats how its worked with me anyway. Hope it goes well 🙂

Ok, so I called the hospital, and the lady on the phone said "Oh we allow diabetics to eat dry toast. Just don't have anything on it".

Think I will be better off fasting for the 6hrs and not eating that day!

I've got to have an ultrasound for my liver soon and they gave me a 10:30am appointment and I have to fast for 6 hours and i thought that time was silly. So i rang up to see if they can give me an ealier appointment or put it back more towards 12:30pm so it would mean i could get up at a reasonable hour and have breakfast (she actually seemed surprised that I asked for a later appointment).

I got an 8am one in the end but a week later.

I wish my hosp was as accomodating as yours! I wouldn't mind waiting another week if it meant a more convenient slot. although saying that, if the pain progresses the way it has been, I will be in a&e long before the scan date!
