At 2am i was 9.3,i woke at 9.30 am at 11.9 soaked through and one hell of a headache, dont understand why it went up surley if anything it should have gone lower.

perhaps you had a hypo in the night, you said you were soaked through and had a headache, sometimes the body will use the last of the glucose to fight a hypo if needed.

why do you think it 'should' of went lower? it should of stayed steady assuming no carbs or active insulin......

A hypo would be the likely explanation, but you never know, maybe time for some overnight testing.........

I hope you feel better soon.......🙂

Guessing, from your photo, you could be going through menopause? Or it could be diabetes / hypo related.

it's a blummin' mystery to me too when it happens to me!

hope you find an explanation. my diabetic nurse says it is because the BG level has gone down too much and the liver thinks there is a problem and pumps out some glucose to compensate... but pumps out too much.

*thinks* my liver needs a good talking to!!!

seems silly that you can be 9.3 at 2am and then go too low

ps.... just a thought.... my BG levels are much higher in the morning if I have slept in and got up late. if I get up before 7.30am I have lower readings 🙂

Hi Carol,
are you sure it's diabetes related? Perhaps you have a bug which will raise your blood sugars.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Carol, it doesn't sound like a hypo with 9.3 at 2am. What were you before bed? and did you feel unwell when you tested at 2am?

There are lots of other causes of night sweating. Menopause being one of them. I get night sweats (I'm 24) due to chronic fatigue / stress and depression. It is worth speaking to your GP about it if it happens again just so they can rule out anything else.

ooh I never thought of that!! I have M.E. and used to put everything down to M.E. and so never even realised that I had diabetes (a lot of the symptoms are similar) ....... so....... I now have to be careful not to put everything down to diabetes and not think about it being something else lol.

did that make sense??? I'm becoming quite a 'senior' 😱

Do i realy look that old😱,but no seriously yes you are right about the menapause, pretty sure my self it wasnt a hypo not with the way things have been going lately, im not realy concerned about it just was a bit confused with the way it all works.

I just did a search on night sweats and saw this post from yesterday. I'm having the same thing - each night around 5am I wake up drenched in sweat. In the morning my head is banging and I'm completely exhausted.

I hadn't considered that it could be a hypo. I'm not on insulin, but am on Glic and do quite often go into the 3s in late afternoon.

I hope it's not the menopause as I'm only 36 :(

I'll make sure I test next time it happens...
