Why would a waking BS level be high when other levels in the day are low?
My mother has insulin in the morning after her BS level
Morning - anything between 9 - 12 some mornings
Other mornings 6 - 8's
other readings 6 - 8's

it's funny when some mornings it's the same for a few days or she can have a day with the same level all day, that's weird!

Could be dawn phenomenon or foot on the floor syndrome?
Dawn phenomenon is where your liver starts chucking out glucose reserves into the blood stream early in the morning to give you some energy to start the day. FOTF I think is where some people seem to get a rise as soon as they get out of bed even if they don’t eat anything, probably for a similar reason. As to why it isn’t the same every day, well that’s diabetes for you, it likes to throw curve balls at you and keep you on your toes!

I'm expecting it to be different all the time - it's just odd when it is the same for a few mornings running or for every reading during the day. For the latter I do wonder if the monitor has broken :D

I reckon both could be applicable there, one or the other or both depending! Thanks Sally71
Sometimes I put it down to her morning coffee if she has that first but sometimes she only has a few sips of it.
