Hello @rosie1 does any other juice affect you because Metformin can upset you too, but if its only
when you have a sugary drink when it happens possible side affect, speak with your Doc or DSN if
you have one? in the mean time don`t drink full sugar juice until you have an answer from a HCP.

Hi. As a diabetic you should avoid any fruit juice as it will be very high in sugar.

Try to have something suitable to eat in the fridge - boiled eggs, cooked meat, even sugar free jelly to have with yoghurt of cream so there is always something to eat rather than anything high in carbs.

Apple juice used to upset my stomach before diagnosis. Since then I have avoided all fruit juice as it is high in sugar. As I mentioned on your other post, drinking fruit juice as a Type 2 diabetic is not recommended.

I understand, Dave, that you are replying to someone with type 2 diabetes which , I assume, is not treated with insulin.
However, fruit juice is certainly not something I avoid or need to avoid. If planned for, I dose some insulin and, if I am hypo, it is a great treatment to raise. my blood sugars.

The message is not as simple as "everyone with diabetes should avoid everything high in sugar".

Point taken but even so I avoid fruit juice even though on insulin as I need to control my carbs to avoid weight gain and also to avoid higher BS swings and the risk of a hypo if I get the dose wrong. Much better to have real fruit when you can and I use Dextrose tablets to get my BS back up.

I believe this is due to a chemical reaction between something in grapefruit and some drugs such as statins.
It is certainly something to be aware of but, if you are not the drugs that are affected by grapefruit (I don't believe there are any diabetes-specific drugs), it is the same as any other fruit juice.

Apple juice is acidic, can cause acid reflux, best avoid acidic drinks if upsets guts.

hi nonethewiser, today and yesterday lve had horrible acid reflux made me throw up no more apple juice for me l take a tablet tummy protecter but l still get a reflux some times does anyone else.

Need to get that investigated mate, not good throwing up.

Have few triggers for reflux, eating late at night so avoid this, fine with tomatos on own but things like passata based sauces can repeat, toms are acidic probably more so when broken down, still eat tom sauce based foods just careful on quantity.

Fatty greasy food tends to repeat, like good old full english but sometimes can cause acid reflux later on, spicy food is horrendous so avoid totally, with curry just have something mild like korma.
