Just tried frying some halloumi cheese to go with a salad, my god it was bloody great!

I'd always passed over it at the supermarket, but its got a really meaty texture to it, but also a sort of soft cheesyness that goes well.

If you've avoided, have a go!

Never tried it, may give it a go, love cheese x

Paneer is another good frying cheese - less salty than Halloumi and great in curries.

To me, Halloumi deep fried (aka saganaki) is best eaten where it comes from ie Greece. On a warm summer evening outdoors at a seaside taverna. Same as a Greek salad or courgette flowers fried in egg-white batter - simply taste so much better when eaten where they belong.

In England I'd be horrified to have a caterpillar served up to me with the salad on my plate - but when you've watched the bloke pick the lettuce from his garden before putting it on that plate, you simply pick out the caterpillar and transfer it back onto the garden!

Now you've got me wondering how many carbs in a caterpillar Jenny 🙂

Love halloumi, also feta (nice and crumbly)
