Which meter

Hi I use the iCare Advanced as it was given to me by the DN on diagnosis. I never thought to question how accurate it was??? I am new to insulin therapy so relying on the results of my testing. Seems there are many devices available. Do folks purchase their own or can you negotiate a better model from the GP? I suppose it`s all about cost, especially the strips 🙂

There lots of different meters out there and different manufactures, they offer different features / software options and come in a multitude of sizes.

Some meters have a very good reputation and excellent customers services, while others have a reputation for other reasons.

The main meter suppliers have test strips that cost around ?25 ish for 50 and theres the SD code free which is one of the cheapest for strips at ?7 for 50.

Most of use get our meters for free by contacting the main suppliers as they make their money of the test strips. I have bought some meters recently to try out, but if you need to buy a meter shop around as prices can vary a lot.

great response, I am getting a Freebie Bayer meter, so will see how that is, assuming I get a few strips and spikes, let you know how it goes 🙂
