hi
I have been looking at test meters and lancets(the auto ones that do it quick). but it seems to be a minefield out there.
what is codefree?, can I use one that just tests the blood drop without the test strips?, can I use any make of lancet with any make of meter . I would rather pay a bit more and get an accurate meter. I am still waiting to hear from the diabetes nurses following my diagnosis last week. is this normal? any advice/experiences appreciated

Hi @corascate, there isn't really a test strip free option currently. You don't get anything extra by paying for a more expensive model or strips, except a lighter wallet - all meters and test strips have to conform to the same accuracy specifications. This is why we suggest the Codefree meter, simply because it is the cheapest for strips 🙂 Yes, you can use any lancet, it doesn't have to be the same make as the meter 🙂

It can be a bit of a postcode lottery as far as care for Type 2 is concerned (they tend to be a bit more proactive with Type 1 because insulin is involved). If you're not sure what is happening I'd give them a call and ask what happens next 🙂
