When I was less controlled years ago I would start to feel a bit grotty and thirsty at around 25mmols and if it went up I would start to feel really bad and would have developed DKA very soon after that. Now I am much more controlled I get to feeling really grotty and thirsty at about 9 to 10. The same was with hypo's. Years ago I would feel hypo at around 6mmols but now I am much better controlled I can feel hypo at around 4 but I seem to be able to go much longer now before I feel I need help. Sometimes, if I have no warnings until I am really low, I can get to about 2 and still be able to function and get something to eat and drink myself. Has anyone had the same?

As far as hypos go, yes. Usually around 4 or mid 3s, but can be in the 2s if it's dropping quickly.

I usually get high feelings around the mid teens but tend to know something's wrong before that. Feelings can be very deceptive though.🙂

Oh I know that lol A few months ago all my high and low signs became the same for both! It has been a bit hit and miss wheras years ago I used to be able to tell round about what my sugar reading was going to be but I can't do that party trick any more lol I sometimes ask why diabetes has to be so infuriating lol

I was very naughty in the past and wouldn't bother testing, believing I could tell my BG from feelings. I wasn't far out a lot of the time but did get it wrong a fair bit so I'm now a good boy and test a lot.

It is annoying when you think you're low and you're high or vice versa but there's only one way to check for me now. Test, test, test ! :D

I sometimes mistake being hungry for being low. I usually get very definite symptoms under 3.0 and feel a bit queasy if I'm above 9.0 🙂

I've been having an especially good run recently though - my 30 day average is 5.8, my 14 day is 5.7 and my 7 day is 5.3! 😱 and the lowest I have been for two weeks is 3.8 🙂

Because i suffer with hypo unawareness i have been walking round the high street at 2.2 appearing fine ! start to feel sicky and get pains around 11ish

Well the way to get hypo early warning back is to live with your BG a bit higher - say 7-ish - for a few months.

I was gonna say thyroid too.

How long's it been since you checked your basal?

Most modern insulins don't work the same as eg Humulin used to - that's a swine for losing your hypo warnings. The analogs, detemir, glargine, glulusine etc etc work different. So try summat else because they are all slightly different. Apidra usually kicks in quicker and is over and out quicker than Humalog or Novorapid. Levemir and Lantus also act differently and one or the other suits different people better than summat else.

You need to be a bit more pro-active in treating your diabetes methinks!
