I'm hoping I can get some help here!!

My little boy is 14 months old and I've been left diabetic since he was born! I've struggled with not being sensitive enough to tablets but over sensitive to novo rapid!!

I'm supposed to be on consultants urgent list and haven't been seen since August and clinics r all being cancelled so I've no idea when going to see her again?

I'm diagnosed type 2 but all consultants tell me I'm unique i can't be type 2? Am verging on under weight?

Anyway can any of u lovely people point me in good direction for a healthy lifestyle to follow!! I don't like word diet

I'm also running after 2 kids under 2 and low energy and fatigue!! Also feel like my legs r so heavy I'm going to drop??

Any help or advice would be much appreciated x x

Hi Vinta, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm sorry to hear about the problems that you have been experiencing, particularly in getting hold of the appointments and help you were promised :( I would suggest contacting the Diabetes UK Helpline to see if they can recommend anything that can help you get some attention! Details are on this link:

https://www.diabetes.org.uk/helpline

What tablets have you tried? What sort of blood sugar levels are you getting currently? Why did the consultants suggest you are unique? Diabetes can be a very wide-ranging condition, so people are not always easily pigeon-holed. Did you have problems during your pregnancy with your blood sugar levels? The usual assumption is that pregnancy may cause gestational diabetes, which then may or may not become Type 2 after the body has recovered from the pregnancy, but it's certainly possible that you could be Type 1 (there's another called Type 1.5!). I don't wish to confuse you with more possibilities, but there are certainly other tests and options that need to be explored - they can't just shake their heads and leave you in the lurch!

Can you tell us a bit more about the circumstances during the pregnancy and afterwards, what you have tried, and some examples of your blood sugar levels? How long were you on the novorapid for and how much would a typical daily dose be? Do you have some examples of your typical daily diet? Some people can get caught in a difficult situation where their pancreas doesn't quite produce enough insulin, so levels go higher than normal, but if you try and overcome that with injections, then your needs are so small that injections are a bit too crude. Sorry for all the questions! 🙂

Hi northern thanks for reply!

Was picked up gestational diabetic in July 14 with first pregnancy and then diagnosed type 2 after! Then pregnant with little boy from March 15 and needed insulin in novo rapid and lantus with metformin!

Had wee boy November 15 and Jan 16 was tested for type 1? These tests conflicted each other (can't remember how sorry) then July was tested for 2 types of mody which came back negative?

My consultant feels with family history and how I am there's a gene in there somewhere??

It's actually nice to hear u saying we shouldn't be pigeon holed as a type as I have to say hearing at every app I'm very unusual case is a little soul destroying when I'm trying!!

The nurses say I'm type 2 and type 1 so forgive my ignorance but is that anything like 1.5?

Typical diet is porridge breakfast. Snack is apple then lunch is soup with a slice of granary bread and dinner can be meat and veg with small potato or stir fry?

I'm not on 2000mg of metformin and 3 gliclazide then 20 units of toujeo at night and few units of novo rapid if need it? I could be a 10 2 hours after eating and then within 20 min after this could drop to a 4??

Thanks for answering my question sorry it's bit long winded!!
