Hi,
I am new to this game (the messaging and diabetes!).
I just wanted to say that I have had some good positive and considerate experiences in the following restaurants:
Ask Italian in Touchwood in Solihull, the staff are fab they rush your food if you tell them you are diabetic and even give you o j for free when you hypo!
They are all nice people there and the food is fab.
Also Loch Fyne fish restaurant in Knowle, Solihull have a good staff. One of the waitresses is diabetic and has just had a pump fitted. She came and discreetly gave me good advice about what to eat off the menu. Nothing is too much trouble and again the food is fab.
Hope this info is of use to people. TTFN

Hi, welcome to the forum 🙂 Always good to hear of good service, particularly for people with diabetes 🙂

You say you are new to diabetes - have you been diagnosed long? What insulin regime are you on, and how have you been finding things? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and we'll do our best to answer them!

I don't bother with special food/restaurants when I want the ocassional treat. Eg I'll even has a Naan bread with my curry - shock, horror!

Well Hophead, as T1s we have to match our insulin for the meal to the carbohydrate in it (if we aren't going to be ILL thereafter) and it's sometimes quite hard to guesstimate that - so it's useful to know places that are sympathetic.

I like naan too and could quite easily eat a whole one dipped in me Balti - but my diabetes doesn't like em as much as my mouth !
