Morning everyone....I have been looking on the net this morning and cannot find anything that actually tells you what is considered dangerous high blood levels?.....I understand that any high reading is not good for you but does anyone no what is considered a high level that would be considered dangerous? any help would be grateful 🙂

I suggest you ring the out-of-hours GP service and tell them what your level has gone up to. They will tell you if a trip to A&E is advisable.

Agree with LeeLee worth making a call, if not the out of hours you could try 111 which is a alternative number none emergency number (if operational in your area).

If your BS is going up that rapidly I would seek some medical advice asap, as best to be safe.

Do you have any way of measuring ketones Ant? The presence of ketones in combination with high BG is usually thought of as pretty time-critical for treatment. I'm not sure what the T2 equivalent (HONK?) shows in terms of identifying it

Been a while morning everyone....pre bed 26.2 this morning 14.7

With your levels like this, and if they have been at this level for a while I would say that this is dangerous. My old meter used to flash up a warning somewhere around 16.0 check for ketones. The diabetic screening nurse was get very worried about my levels.

When mine were at this level it affected my eye sight as well as I was starting to feel rough, also the tingling in the toes started playing up a lot more than normal.

One web site classes 33.3 as extremely dangerous http://www.brist.plus.com/whathyper.htm

Checking for ketones above 16 mmol/l is generally for the benefit of people on insulin as there is a danger of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) if high ketones are present at this level. For Type 2 not on insulin it is much less of an immediate danger as their pancreas will still be producing insulin. However, as mentioned before, persistently getting levels in the high teens and above will hugely increase the risks of longer-term complications. HONK (hyperosmolar hyperglycaemic nonketotic coma) is a risk for Type 2 at very high levels, often above the range of home meters which generally go up to about 33-35 mmol/l:

Ant, have your kidneys and eyes been checked lately, and your feet?

Morning alan.....I have annual check up with dn in july....had eye screening 2 weeks ago all was good.

That's good to hear 🙂 I added a bit to my previous post about HONK, in case you missed it 🙂

Thanks alan....I have just read about it and one of the symptoms most stands out is dizziness when you stand up, I ride a motorbike and some times when I come to a hault and sit up you feel a bit dizzy, I will get this sorted 🙂
