hi, saw gp today as having tummy troubles on top of increased migraine, increasing psychotic symptoms and diabetes playing silly devils, fun this life isn't it!!! Have screened negative for coeliac but gp now wants me to exclude wheat, gluten and dairy and see if this makes any difference. What the hell can I eat? Since my diabetes went haywire I have small amount of cheddar in th evening if I get the munchies, I drink a small amount of milk which does not affect bs much, I have milk in tea cannot stand it black, not a great meat eater, can take it or leave it, unable to cook things for myself due to mental health problems, I am feeling really down and depressed about it all now. Still trying to get insulin doses right, am now up to 28 units humulin I at bed but still waking to about 12 bs in morning

Do you like nuts? I always find a small handful good for the munchies, or peanut butter spread on a thin cracker or oatcake isn't too many carbs, ( if you can find a suitable wheat free one)

Hi robin, thanks for the thought but I cannot stand nuts unless it's almonds in the form of marzipan!! Don't think that's a good idea somehow haha
Best wishes

Hi Jo, best bet would be to eliminate the wheat and gluten and see if that makes a difference. If it does then don't bother eliminating the dairy from your diet. Or do it the other way round remove the dairy and keep the gluten in and see if that helps.
Pop corn makes a nice snack.

Thanks sue that's good thinking
Best wishes
Jo

It seems rather harsh to have to eliminate all three at once .
I know the horrid effects of Lactose intolerance has only too well, it's not nice.
I don't know if this would be acceptable to your GP , please do check.
Their is Lactofree milk, cheese and single cream available made by Arla, most supermarkets sell them.
they are dearer than their normal counterparts. The mature cheddar is quite strong 🙂 and the milk tastes just like normal milk.
Mind though if your allergic to milk products, Lactofree milk products will not be good for you.

The answer is not a lot! I had to do that a while back along with no onions, garlic, caffeine... It drove me mad😱 especially when eating out😱😱
If you look on google for the FODMAP diet you might get some help.

A word of warning - when I went low FODMAP it changed my need for insulin greatly and I spent a while permanently hypo😱

Thanks ljc and pottersusan for your suggestions, think I'm going to try eliminating one group at a time, too overwhelming to do everything at once esp with diabetic side of things as well. I m seeing a dietician in May because the gastroenterologist wants me on a low fibre diet and using laxatives like they are going out of fashion, this makes no sense to me at all. Be a lot easier if I could take yet another tablet and not eat again haha!!
