Relationship to Diabetes

Hi, Were a couple who both have Diabetes, my name is Daniel, I am 26 years old and have had Diabetes going on ten years. My Partner is Malin who is 21 plus tax and has had diabetes since she was 1 year and 6 months old. 😡 Im always high and she is always low, we often joke that we need to swap a bit of each others readings lol. I use Lantus and novo rapid and don't have awesome control over my levels, Malin uses the pump and says that she wants to say she has good control until it goes bad, then it goes really bad lmao. Thats what we call an Irish one!! :D If anyone is in a similar situation give us a shout * doubtful lol

Hi guys welcome to the forum🙂 Sounds like you have a lot of experience between you, look forward to hearing from you!

Hi there Daniel and Malin i think our first couple that have joined up as one if you get me lol.Welcome to the forum im not in simlier position im type 2 for 1 year but have a good look round the place and you will soon come to realise we are a great bunch, you sound like a very upbeat kinda person, i must say reading your profile and seeing your interests are hypos and sweets, i can agree im very interested in sweets they just dont like me to much lol.

haha we do enjoy sweets but only during hypo's, abit like now for me. I'm 3.6 atm, how awesome do biscuits taste at 3.6? haha. Does anyone on here use the pump?

thanks for the link, Malin is fortunate enough to be on the pump and I would love to get onto it but I think the postcode lottery is in effect

Hi and welcome to the forum you two! Just puzzled - if your partner is entitled to a pump - why arent you? It doesnt seem very fair to me. Anyway, looking forward to reading all your stories and advice.

My son is 11 and started pumping 5 months ago - we love it and wouldnt give it back ever! His hba1c has dropped dramatically and control is so much better on the pump.🙂Bev

Hi Daniel and Malin,

Welcome to the madhouse, erm I mean community! I'll be going onto a pump in a few months time. Have you considered changing your team to a more pump friendly one?

Tom

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Malin has the pump and I do not because Malin is Swedish, she got it back home as she had pump friendly doctors when she was a teenager.
I will keep everyone updated on my attempts on getting onto the pump.

Malin is celebrating 13 years on the pump tomorrow ( 13FEB2010 ) hooooraaahhh

Does she have a name for her pump? A lot of the people here have given theirs names - we have Poppy, Horace and Poddington (that I can remember).

F?delsedagen pump!:D

F?delsedags pumpen! Thanks very much.

No I have never had a name for it and won't get it either. I know some people in Scandinavia who name their meter, pump and other diabetic accessories but I don't fancy doing that no..

I'm gonna celebrate this big day with a game of pool with my loved boyfriend! 😉
