Just did a little experiment. I ate a couple of Danish pastries - which I haven't done since diagnosis 18 months ago. Waited 2 hours - tested - 15.7 - very shocked! I knew it would be raised, but I never have levels anywhere near that. So I tested again straight away - 10.4. Couldn't understand that difference so tested two more times - 8.3 - 7.8. All these were within a space of 3 minutes! What's going on? Do you think my meter is on the blink? xx

Bumping this thread in hope of an answer for @Kathy1960.

Thank you codepod x

Hi Kathy.
Were your hands nice and clean and no signs on any food left on them? I tend to test after an hour not 2 but that's personal choice

Hi Steff - my hands may not have been that clean - I hadn't washed them and it was a different finger each time - so maybe some had sugar left on them and others didn't - good point - thank you! I have always thought you should test after 2 hours. Maybe I'll try one and then two! Xx

Yeah the monitor can pick up any small amount of an anomily. Just don't use hand wipes sometimes the alcohol on them can make a result skew wiff to .

Thanks Steff - hope you're having a good evening. xx

Of course! I'd love to! x

I think you should share them amongst all of us - then none of us will get a drastic high cos we'll all only get a bit! LOL

Hi Kathy...was about to ask if you'd washed your hands...before I saw @Steff's .response...agree... any residue left from those pastries could have made the difference...can't believe you 'wasted' all that gorgeous sticky sugar...I would have licked every finger at least twice...once when I was cutting up fruit for the kids...tested shortly after...meter said 11.9...almost had a meltdown...until I realised my mistake.

I don't trust the Danish. I used to have trouble with my gums/teeth and somebody at work gave me a Danish. I took one bite and had to go home! The sugar immediately hit my gums/teeth and I can't describe what it was like really. Danish should be banned! It was a weird episode. Never touched a Danish since, not even before the D.

That sounds dreadful ditto! X

I LOVE Danish pastries. :D I agree with Steff - you probably had sugar on some of your fingers. 😛 Oh no, I can't stop thinking about Danish pastries now!😉
