Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Ok diagnosed type 2 in May this year with blood test reading of 78. Had blood test on Friday today’s results say non diabetic. ‍Can this be right? One day diabetic the next not even close. Has anyone else ever had this?

Have you made any lifestyle changes, or been prescribed medication?

Hi and many congratulations.

It seems that the lifestyle changes and medication you mentioned in your opening post in June have done the trick.
Well done! Are they keeping you on the Metformin or have you stopped that now?

Hmmmm, this is strange but not unheard of.

What are your new numbers and what type of adjustments have you made?

Thanks all, I have changed nothing. At the beginning I did stick to as low carb as possible as I was to scared to eat anything. I’ve lost a stone in weight and exercise a bit more that last year but certainly not extreme. To be honest I’m not really sure I was ever diabetic. At the time the blood test was done I was on a large dose of steroids for an allergic reaction and had stopped taking sertroline anti depressant. Could that be why my blood sugar levels were raised?
I just have no idea but at this very moment I’m over the moon and feel a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and feel like living my life. Tomorrow I will ring my doctor and get confirmation one way or the other.

Yes, I think that may be the explanation. (Specifically steroids are known to raise blood glucose and I think to raise HbA1c (perhaps independent of blood glucose). I've no idea about antidepressants.)

Stopping the antidepressants may have increased stress levels which will also have elevated BG levels, so may have had an adverse effect on top of the steroids..

That sounds the likeliest explanation.
But, you need to insist you have a follow up test in three months, six months, and a year to make sure your hba1c stays in the same ballpark.
If you can afford to lose the weight, it's well worth watching your diet to try to keep that weight off.
But, no matter how it happened, brilliant result!
