I want to get one for my hospital appointments next month and wondered what you are all using?

I don't have hospital appointments, but had a Chiropractor appointment on Wednesday and was required to wear a mask, I just wore one of my homemade ones.

I have a fabric one, quite thick. It also has a pocket to put a coffee filter or whatever in. It’s re-useable.

We use home made (or Etsy bought) cloth ones with 2-3 layers of fabric. Husband & I wear glasses so a wife across the nose really helps stop them steaming up.

I have a few reusable masks from Mars knitwear,I also have purchased a box of 50 disposable masks online from Boots, previous to that I bought 3M masks from Ebay but they were too expensive,I tend to shop late so I can avoid the rush and I enjoy that time to gather my thoughts as I'm a full time carer, and it's a bit of 'me' time.

We have a couple of cotton masks with a pocket for a filter from Etsy , I also have a pack of disposable ones from boots.

We can't go anywhere yet, but I have two OP appointments at the hospital in August so it will have to be a scarf - or did have a thought - where the heck is my 'What's up doc?' m/bike buff - or indeed my Willis Wrightson silk square?

A wife across the nose sounds a bit drastic!
Joking apart, I made a couple for us, and put a couple of lengths of floristry wire wrapped in insulating tape in the top seam, and it certainly helps it fit more snugly. I haven’t had to wear it yet, but if I need to go the the surgery, I will need it. They have volunteers sewing home-made ones to hand out to people who haven’t got them though, in return for an optional donation to the community centre food bank and deliveries system.

I've got 2 cotton ones a friend made for me. And yep they're Disney!

Ah - some medics on telly saying you must have one that closely fits your nose if you wear glasses, cos otherwise the lenses steam up pdq. Think they're sposed to go under the chin too, sound stinking hot to moi.

That sounds uncomfortable.

I made a few masks from layers of fabric. Good to use up small bits and pieces.
I sewed in a few bag twists to shape it over the nose to avoid steaming up.

My masks I made are 4 layers 2 layers of fabric, and 2 layers of interfacing.

2 of my mothers carers were struggling with steamed up glasses,so they decided not to wear their masks,I know it's awkward but I had to say sorry, you have to wear them

I haven’t been wearing one yet, but relying on keeping very distant instead (lots of stopping and waiting / getting overtaken by people squeezing through gaps!).

I would use any 2-layers of cotton I think. I’ve got a neckerchief that I have been thinking I would use cowboy-style 🙂

Anything that would catch any tiny flecks breathed or spoken out by me would be fine as far as I can tell.

I’ve got one I bought from an Etsy store and it’s shaped beautifully so fits really well. Has a pocket for a filter.
I’ve two others a friend made and although I love the fabrics they’re not as comfortable as the shaped one so I tend not to wear them as often. I also have 5 medical grade FP3 masks I bought before the shortages struck.
When I go out I have two masks with me at all times, the one I’m wearing in shops and in crowded spaces plus a spare in my bag.
