In the "Changing to 2ce daily Levimir" thread a few people gave the proportions of Levemir they took morning and evening (which were very different - as is everything with this) and it occured to me it would be interesting to compare what sort of ratios those of us who count carbohydrate use.

In my case I use:

a Food Ratio (for all food) of

1 unit to 11 g of carbohydrate

and a Correction Ratio of

1 unit to bring my level down 5

In the morning I use a ratio of 1u:5g of Novorapid. I'll use this ratio up until about 11.30am.

I then use a ratio of 1u:7g over the lunch/afternoon time.

From about 4/4.30pm onwards I use a ratio of 1u:10g.

For corrections, 1u Novorapid brings me down by roughly 2mmol/l.

I use a 1:1CP (CP being 10g carbs) all day. It was 1:1.5 in the evening until recently though.

For corrections 1unit brings me down around 2.5

For me it's one unit for every ten grammes of carbohydrate. One unit should, in theory, bring me down by two point five millimoles per litre.

I use 1:20 in the morning, 1:20 at lunch and the same for dinner.

However i think my dinner ratio needs looking at again as i had the same thing for lunch and dinner one day, and at lunch i came back down to what i was pre-meal, and at dinner i did'nt so maybe need a different ratio for the evening.

Oh and i think 1 unit brings me down about 2 mmols 🙂

1:11 breakfast
1:12 lunch
1:10 dinner

My pump is set to correct at 1u for 50mg/dl (2.77mmol)

1:10 all the time

I use 2:1CP for breakfast and 1:1CP at all other times

(1CP = 10g of carbs)

1:10 morning
0.75:10 lunch
2+ : 10 evening....

hence the changing to 2ce daily levimir post

C is on:
Breakfast 2U:1CP
Lunch 1.5U:1CP
Dinner/Tea 1.5U:1CP
Snacks 1.5U:1CP

we calculate that 1U will bring C down by 3

The doc tried to change it last appointment as C had Hypo episodes, but as soon as we implemented that ratio she was high all the time, so we changed it back to the above mentioned.

Breakfast 1:10
Lunch 1:10
Dinner 1:7

I take my Levemir at 10pm and I think it's starting to run out by dinner time hence the extra insulin in the evening. I've considered splitting the Levemir but I think that might result in me returning to dawn effect highs.

1 unit brings me down about 2mmol/l.

1:7 for breakfast (til about 11:30), then 1:9 for the rest of the day.

I unit brings me down about 2 mmol/L.

🙂

I use 2 units per 10g for every meal and then I take 24 units of lantus at night. It's interesting to see how different we all are x

Oh and 1 unit brings me down by 3mmols
