What next after swim22?

Hi - I was diagnosed type II in late January and signed up to the Swim 22 to help manage my diabetes. It has worked well - love swimming being part of my daily life and the motivation of completing the challenge but wondering what to do after the challenge is over to keep motivated and challenged by the swimming and keep it part of my routine. Anyone else been here before and got any ideas please?

Hello @Sweetmadriana, it’s good to know that you now enjoy swimming and have noticed positive results from it. Sorry, I do not have answers to your question, someone will provide a response soon
 
Well done on the Swim 22 challenge - the next one is the One Million Steps challenge I believe - don't know if you can convert the "steps" swimming-wise though I'm afraid!

 
Just carry on swimming, aiming to beat your PBs etc or challenging yourself to beat your previous monthly totals.
 
It sort of depends on how good a swimmer you are. Back in 2022 I challenged myself to swim 500 miles in a year. The thing about this type of challenge is that it doesn't have to be 500 miles, you can pick a distance that you think is a challenge but doable. I was inspired by 220 Triathlon Magazine columnist Martyn Brunt who did one million metres in a year. I decided that a thousand K was too much but 500 miles was within my abilities. In the end I completed the challenge by October and could have continued and tried to match Martyn's score but by that point I really needed a rest. Doing the challenge improved my swimming abilities a lot. I paid for some one to one coaching while doing it so that helped. I lost weight and got my glucose levels down by doing it so that was good.

I put up posters and raised money for the local guide dogs charity. Becky Addington visited the gym and signed one of my posters.

Another one of Martyn Brunt's challenges was called the 100 100 100 challenge. Swim 100 metres in 100 seconds 100 times. He recalled being surrounded by guys with torsos like Dairylee triangles. He reduced himself to the state of a wet dish rag but managed it. At my best I can do 50 metres in 50 seconds so I would have absolutely no chance with this one.
