Just got my 6 month review results there.Everything fine except my HBA1C is still on the high side.Down from 80 to 69.The receptionist I was talking to said there was a note saying to take an extra pill morning and night.I'm puzzled.I am on a 1000mg in the morning and 1000mg at night so if I doubled tis it would be 4000mg,Surely this cannot be right.I googled it and it said maximum daily dosage 2500mg,Has the doc made a mistake.

I would ask for verification from the doctor - the receptionist may have got things wrong. I've certainly never heard of anyone taking 4000mg. Perhaps the doctor who wrote the note got things wrong and thought you were currently on a lower dose of 1000mg?
 
I was told 2000mg per day is the max dose for anyone this from the hospital diabetes specialist. Happydays
 
The max dose is 2000mg. As Metformin is increased the additional effect is smaller. Metformin only ever helps blood sugar a bit. I assume you are already low-carbing?
 
Seen the doc today.she thought I was only on 1000mg per day.Upped my gliclazide from 2 tabs to 3 per day.She also said if anything my cholesterol was a bit on the low side.Just no winning is there....lol
