Having a very bizzare day - felt great all day and then just after 3ish for no realson I ran to the loo and was violently sick. I mean violently - not been sick like that before and went on for some time.

Been sleeping since.

Just woke up and got up (slowly) and had to sit down again as felt faint.

I haven't eaten since lunch time which was only a small salad.

I have just tested as not sure if the faintness was actually a start of a hypo and I am 10.1 (which nowadays is very high for me).

I don't feel sick anymore - just weak and weird.

Any ideas what is going on and why would my sugars be so high (for me) when I haven't eaten?

Sorry to hear this Lucy :( Perhaps a stomach bug? Interestingly, just before I was diagnosed I experienced the same thing - being suddenly and violently sick, didn't even have time to get up off the couch never mind get to the loo, which probably had never happened to me since I was a child. The doctors suspect that I had caught a virus that then made my levels rise quickly. It's possible that you have something like this, although maybe not quite the same as I had.

Hope you are feeling better soon, but do seek medical advice if your levels remain high or you continue to feel sick.

Hi Lucy,
sorry to hear about your tummy upset, not nice :( Hope you feel better soon.
There are quite a few tummy bugs about, perhaps you have managed to pick one up as well.

Hi Lucy sorry to hear you have been feeling ill,i know it was your birthday yesterday could it have been something from then, I know some people like to over indulge abit on special occasions etc etc.

Maybe the excitement of your sons wedding is hitting you more then you thought 🙂

Hope you feel more on parr soon x

Definitely didn't eat anything off yesterday Steff and don't think its the wedding! Just very bizarre. Doesn't feel like a tummy bug normally does.
Sitting nice and still now and sipping water - will see how feel in morning.

Thanks everyone else for your posts🙂

Get better soon, the norovirus can literally come out of the blue just like u described, I've had it happen to myself a couple of years ago

Just tested again and 11,2 now.
Is this okay - how high should I let it go without being concerned.
Lately I have had really good control (apart from hypos) and have been in the 4 - 8 range.

It certainly sounds like a bug Lucy :( I wouldn't worry personally unless it reached the high teens, but if things persist then contact your doctor (or NHS Direct) as I think that there is a possibility of lactoacidosis when taking metformin at high levels, and you may be advised to stop it for a while.

Thanks Alan - I haven't took the metformin, acarbose or frusemide tonight. Will try and get off to bed soon and see what i am in morning - that would be okay wouldn't it?

Hi Lucy, Sorry to hear this :( I agree with others that it sounds a if it may be the start of a bug. Take care (((hugs))) xx

Well, I'm not a doctor Lucy, so perhaps a call to NHS Direct would reassure you? I wouldn't have thought that a level just in double figures and with no medication would be a problem for you, although you are (of course) 'special' 😉

Thank you.

I suppose I used to be in those figures before the meds, so I don't think it will hurt for one night. Going to get some sleep now.

Thank you to all of you for your helpful comments.🙂

Hope you feel better in the morning.

I agree with Alan Lucy , its sounds like a very nasty Tummy bug , they can come on really quickly and from nowhere , lets hope its a 24 hr thing and you feel much better today and your bs returns to normal 🙂

Sorry you have been ill Lucy - I hope that when you get up this morning you are much improved.

Hi All,

Still feel a bit ropey but have made it in to work.
Just taken my meds again (I deliberately missed them last night) and am going to try a little breakfast shortly.

Thanks again for being there.🙂

Don't over do it at work misses and if you start to feel ropey again go home. Your health is more important than work!!

Hope your right as rain soon x

Hi. Lucy Only just seen this post. Are you sure that you should be at work today? Please take it easy. I hope you feel much better as the day progresses.
