I worked hard as I could to try and get my levels into normal rage at all times. If they were out of normal rage, I would start running on the spot for 10-15 minutes and would be much lower again.

My reasoning was because of some reading I did on the web some time ago that with very high glucose beta cells lost function, and returned to normal when lower again. So I tried to keep all readings under 7.8 at all times.
I'm afraid all the exercise in the world won't help a type 1s defunct beta cells to regenerate! ( which isn't to say that exercise doesn't help us, it does, by making our bodies efficient at using the insulin we inject)

That is very true. I was referring to type 2 and pre-diabetes, not type 1, as that is very different.

I know exercise burns glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity, so it should still have its benefits on making the insulin work better and lower glucose too. I have no experience with type 1 in my family only type 2, so I would not know for sure.

Yes it does help with sensitivity but also more likely to cause a hypo too especially when 2 of my injections for meals are done in my legs, also not doing too much exercise at the moment due to being quite underweight and not wanting to lose anymore x

Many of us use abdomen for meal injections and legs for long acting doses, precisely to avoid using legs or arms before physical activity, whether sports or DIY / gardening, such as sawing wood.

I know but I had to change a few months ago on DSN's advice as I only ever used my stomach and kind or running out spots due to not having much weight on me so I use leg for breakfast, other for lunch, stomach for dinner and buttocks for basal x

As has been mentioned, the thing to aim for is steady levels and try to avoid a lot of spikes (some are almost inevitable, particularly on insulin where you have to guess about timings of food/insulin peaks). It is thought that steady levels - hillocks - are kinder to the blood vessels, particularly the tiny ones in the eyes and kidneys. As such, being in the 7s all day is far better than going from 4 to 12 and back again through the day 🙂 I was actually in the 7s/8s all day the other day, and felt very pleased about it! 🙂

And you still have a fantastic HbA1c. When I was first diagnosed, I stumbled on the American Diabetes Daily site first, and I was dismayed to find a whole bunch of type 1s chasing lower and lower HbA1cs, and making people who didn't achieve them feel like failures. Fortunately I continued reading around the net, and found some more sensible and balanced information.

Was that site affilated to Richard Bernstein, as i have just read his book.

I don't think so, it was started in 2005 by a Type 1 couple called David and Elizabeth Edelman. It had a lot of useful stuff, I was wrongly diagnosed at the time, and I'd never heard of the term 'LADA' or Type1.5, or that you could develop Type 1 at any age, and it helped me push for a correct diagnosis. I just didn't like the competitive HbA1c stuff that was going on at the time.

Richard Bernstein is an advocate of tight control, amongst other things.
