You may have seen our new ‘remission’ section?
The idea that diabetes can go into remission has been making headlines for a little while now, following Prof Taylor and Prof Mike Lean’s work with the DIRECT trial and the roll-out of the NHS ‘soup and shake’ diet.
Remission in DIRECT is said to be 2 or more HbA1c results at 48 or below with no medication. Some on the forum have also met those criteria on a low-carbohydrate diet, and been able to maintain them for a number of years.
But moving towards remission is not always easy - both during the weight loss (if that is the approach taken), or in a substantial change to a person’s way of eating.
And once the criteria of ‘remission’ have been met, there then comes the process of trying to adapt into a maintenance phase.
We’re interested to learn what inspires you to keep going. What keeps you on your path to success? What keeps you motivated and keeps you ‘on the wagon’?
There‘s a thread where you can share your experiences, your struggles, and your successes here:
