What Does Diabetes Smell Like?

The link between diabetes and smell is complex and multifaceted, influenced by various physiological processes. Let’s delve deeper into the specific odors and their underlying causes:

I know that hypos blowing into a breathaliser can give false positives for alcohol. So can someone on a ketogenic diet? (Read of cases regarding both.) I’m assuming the legendary “hypo alert dog” is triggered to action on the former, too.

Reminds me a little of the hypo-alert dogs, that are trained to notify their owners if BG levels fall, which they can detect via changes in scent.

Similarly, specially trained dogs can detect the early stages of cancer too 😱

There’s a tiny charity Medical Alert Dogs which helps train the clever pooches.
