So when the doctor decided to chang you life for the better, what did you find the hardest thing to give up??
Been thinking of mine, and it has to be cake Mr Kipling farm house cake, hmmmmmm that was the first thing i cut out, i woul aet a half of it in one go.

On the SW plan I'm following, no food is banned completely... as long as you're honest with youself and count the syns (about 20 cals per syn). Having said that, I no longer indulge in a Greggs hot jumbo sausage roll every time I walk past the shop and I avoid the crisps aisle in the supermarket.

The carb value of said cake is on the box just devide it up into the right portion size for you.
If you suspect or know you would wolf more than that portion size, just dump the rest in the freezer 🙂

Just snacking generally. I used to be a bit of a grazer, but now I can't be bothered to 'bolus for a biscuit' and all the comlications that entails, like stacking insulin, unpredictable levels etc. I suppose diabetes has imposed much better eating habits on me, as I now have three meals a day, whereas before I would have often skipped breakfast and eaten something less healthy for lunch, plus the snacking (usually crisps). I'm also more aware of health problems generally, and how I may be harming myself by, for example, getting kaylied 😱

My diet prior to diagnosis wasn't terrible, but I didn't really give it much thought (as is the case with most non-D people). I've certainly made general improvements there and read the labels before I buy (not just the carb values!).

Fresh Fruit juice. I miss it so much.

And cocktails on nights out, being able to just pick something delicious from a cocktail menu.

:(

For me it's snacking especially on crisps but I don't really snack at all these days. Just because I can't really be bothered to bolus for it! I do miss milk too, a glass of milk for me was never enough, I used to drink it by the pint!

Never understood why anyone wants to drink anything THAT sweet. A sip yes, but a glass of it? 😱 You can feel your teeth rotting .....

Acquire a taste for Manhattan Dry ..... or take the easy way out and drink G & T .....

Harribo treat packs - I only get it when I'm hypo now & also full fat dandelion & burdock.

Me to, and me too. I really miss things like mango and pineapple, and the occasional Mai Tai. I had a pretty healthy diet on the whole, not much of a snacker but I really loved my fresh fruit and fruit juice. I ate a fair bit of rice and pasta that I don't do now, except in small doses. I eat far less meat and much more veg.

Double deckers

+1 for double deckers. Best. Choccy. Bar. Ever.

I still sneak one in every now and again (sorry T2s!), but along with Bakewell Tart....

Actually what I think I miss most is just being able to eat something because I fancied it, whatever it was, whenever it was... Without every mouthful become some complex mathematical/timing conundrum!

Jelly babies......I love them so much. A colleague of mine brought in a massive box of Jelly babies to work and sat them on her desk opposite mine. She had been given them for Christmas and doesn't like them. I never even had a single one of them.

I miss white bread and be able to have a choccy snack without counting anything

coke cola..

coke cola..

I forgot about full fat coke too, I used to love it and really didn't like the diet varieties, I'm really surprised how my tastes have changed and I now happily drink the zero or diet variety. That said, I almost look forward to a hypo so I can partake of the good stuff, even if it is just a small can :D

Nothing much, can still eat the same but in smaller quantities.

Miss being spontaneous and just eating whatever & whenever, would be nice to not have a day where you have to calculate carbs and insulin injections.
