Hi. I was diagnosed T2 about a month ago with a blood test result of 44. I found this site soon after and started cutting down on carbs. I'm not having too much trouble with my diet but I am getting very tired of only tea and water for drinking. Any suggestions for variations?

Hello Manc54, welcome to the forum. No added sugar squash might be worth considering as there are many flavours.

Thanks, Billy. I'll give them a try.

Sugar free anything fizzy, too. What did you drink before you were diagnosed?

Hi Trophywench. I drank fruit juice, tea and coffee with sugar and water. I don't like the sugar-free stuff as it leaves an aftertaste in my mouth. But thanks for the suggestion.

This stuff is really nice - https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/301184199, I had it as a treat for Christmas and New Year (I class it as my treat as for over 2 years now I've only been drinking water and coffee) I too cant stand the aftertaste of sugar free drinks so living on just water and coffee suits me fine, some of the fruit teas you could drink as well if that's your kinda thing 🙂 xx

Stur sugar free water flavours are good, strangely there doesn’t appear to be an aftertaste (sweetened with stevia). They are weaker in flavour than fizzy drinks. I sometimes add them to soda water.

Thank you, everyone. Your suggestions are great! I use to do clinical trials for asthma and often couldn't have any caffeine, so drank a lot of fruit and herbal teas. I got fed up of them, but am thinking of going back. A lot of them don't need any sweeteners so are good for diabetics. Some of the above posts are good for the warm weather we might get.

I stayed in a Raddison Hotel last night and at the breakfast buffet table there were two glass barrels with taps, one containing the usual fruit juice, the other was still water with mint leaves and a few grapefruit slices floating in it which was really refreshing. I was interested to see that when empty they replaced it with a similar vessel containing cucumber and a few strawberries. I usually just have water with a slice of lemon or I have a third of a glass of Pepsi Max topped up with water or a teaspoon of ACV or Balsamic vinegar in my water, but I will now be trying out various cold infusions with mint/lemon balm and odd bits of fruit from the garden..... not enough fruit to add calories but just give the water a slight flavour.

you probably already know but you can buy water bottles that have a core for you to add fruits to and infuse your water, I've never tried one but I've heard good things about them 🙂 xx

These flavoured waters tend to be expensive. I’m with Jenny on this, I’ve just got cans of zero carb IrnBru and Diet Coke in the fridge. Round here, the water comes from the Lake District, so I enjoy drinking it cold. Or cut out the middleman and drink rainwater. That’s free.

Actually I didn't know that but I doubt I would do so when I can recycle ordinary plastic drinks bottles or glass ones and just push the fruit, herbs or veg even, through the opening and just let them float or sink whilst they infuse. I currently have some mint leaves and raspberries in one that is very pleasant. I will be going out to raid my lemon balm for some leaves very shortly.

green tea is amazing..and the flavours you can get in them, at the moment I drink lemon drizzle green tea amazing and very good for you
