What a let down...for my christmas treat I decided to have a slice of christmas yule log (Asda-hubby bought it) and it was horrible; I feel really guilty now and worried about my sugars but can't test as I have not testing strips left:(

However, at least chocolate/sponge/chocolate cream isn't something I miss and will want again in a hurry... so something good good has come out of something not so good...

Future sweet treats will continue to be sugar free jelly....🙂

Don't feel guilty Amanda! You learned something from trying it, so it was a useful exercise 🙂 It will make very little difference to your overall levels too, so please don't fret 🙂

I'm only glad christmas is only once a year; but at least I've learnt I don't need cake... 🙄

How did you get on with Christmas dinner Amanda, are you like me with a tummy a bit smaller than I expected. 1 Roast, 2 sausages in bacon, 1 slice turkey and my usual veg and I was done.🙂

I think after leaving out such foods for a significant time taste changes anyway - so something which might once have been a sweet treat is simply oversweet and sickening if you try it again. I have found more pleasure in savory treats and a bit extra fruit and steered clear of both temptation and potential disappointment... still ate too much of course so better get on with some brisk Boxing Day exercise 🙂

I had turkey; sprouts; small amount of stuffing; cauliflour and green beans; 1 roast potatoe and half a small yorkshire pudding - no gravy and a pint of water. Couldn't eat it all but what I did eat I enjoyed. No pudding as I had a slice of christmas log in the evening which I didn't enjoy. Have some sugarfree jelly for later.... yum yum yum yum. Hope you had a great day x 🙂

My DN ordered me (yes ordered me) to have a treat on christmas day because she is worried that because I have modified my diet so much I won't be able to keep it up. Therefore, I have been racking my brain for weeks as what that should be. Hubby bought a chrismtas log and I thought I'll have a slim slice..it wasn't nice; I haven't had chocolate for over 7 months, but did force myself to eat it. At least now I know I can do without cake and chocolate which was my downfall prior to diagnosis.

A small bowl of sugar free jelly is so much more tasty; refreshing and keeps the guilt at bay.

Plus I have kept to a good diet prior to christmas day and even lost a 1lb this week...🙂

what test strips do you use?

I have a accu-chek monitor; I'm going to buy some more strips tomorrow. I did test on christmas eve first thing and was in the 4s. Decided not to test on Christmas day because I'll get myself into a tiss if I go above 8.5. I did waste a strip by not drawing enough blood - that will teach me...:D

Yes thanks Amanda, a good day was had, forgot the sprouts, I had two, but dont like them.

I will stick to my fruit salad today, but daughters Chocolate "cake" is very, very nice too.😱

Have a great day. 🙂
