Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Been diabetic for 11 years, and it is yet to be confirmed what type I am. My Consultant says I am type 1.5.
I live in East Essex, and worked in local government for 26 years. I have an artistic side in as much as I play guitar, design and make items of furniture from mostly recycled timber, I love music and the arts, have a passion for old motorcycles and I love animals.
I am now earning my living making cabinets etc.
Trying to grow some of my own food is something I want to do, and taking life as it comes.
I am also a Buddhist. (Not a wierdo, just someone who is compassionate and tries to treat the world and all it's inhabitants with respect).
Kelly.

Warm welcome from me.....................

I was at a funeral recently that was conducted by a Buddhist monk, it was really good..........

A lot of the stuff makes sense really.........

Welcome J Y Kelly - no matter what type you are.

Presumably you use insulin? But that's not as interesting as art, music, cabinet making, animals, motorbikes, Buddhism etc 🙂

Presumably not exactly "Zen of Motorcycle Maintenance"? 🙂

From a fellow food grower (and duck keeper).

Welcome to the forum Kelly 🙂

What current treatment regime are you on?

Welcome to the forum Kelly - there are a couple of 1.5s on here.

From what you have said about yourself you appear to have eclectic taste. I will look forward to your posts. If there is a thread that intrests you just answer it and if you have any questions - just ask and someone will try and answer.

Very sensible ethos I always think, Buddhism. However I'm afraid I'd fail, I have definitely murdered as many mosquitoes as possible in the past and have no intention whatever of giving that up - when I deem it necessary!

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum

Welcome to the forum Kelly xx 🙂

Hi kelly, nothing wrong about being into old Motorbikes ! There are a few "Bikers" on here. What Bike have you got ? & do you still go out on it ?

Hi kelly. Welcome 🙂

Another animal & nature lover here but I choose not to follow any doctrines but my own. Which are probably much the same but without any of the spirituality (it allows me more leeway). :D

Have you had any tests done to ascertain which type you are ?

Rob

Welcome to the forum Kelly 🙂

Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks people! I have been tested and was originally told I was Type 2, but subsequent information led my consultant to believe that I fall between the two types, (typical).
I am on insulin, Sitagliptin, Repaglinide and until recently, Pioglitazone. I also take Losartan as a precaution because statins have had a terrible effect on my muscles and joints.
I do still ride a motorbike, a Triumph Bonneville T100.
Kelly.

A triumph "Bonny". A good toy ! A mate of mine has 1. A couple of years ago 4 of us went to Outer Hebs in scotland & he was on his. I love long disstances on my toy. Have been 4000mile in 10 days to Istanbul. Not bad for a T1 😉

Had all the tests. Consultant says I am Type 1.5.
The philosophy I live by just happens to match the teachings of Buddhism.
I have always been a Buddhist, but until I read books by The Dalai Lama, I didn't realise. I am who I am and always have been. Buddhism deprives me of nothing and has empowered me to be true to myself.
I don't recommend it to anyone but myself.
