Well I told work

Thought I had done this earlier in the year but with the help of Alan could not find the thread I assumed I had done before..

Anyways I told work about my diabetes,situation was I went into work one Friday morning and was really quiet boss said to me are you ok your very quiet i said no i need to tell you something so took him to a quieter corner at work explained to him about my diabetes and upshot is he is gonna do all he can to help if i need any help with food or info he would print it out for me so thats all good .Plus side of working in a kitchen I guess is i can get new ideas for starting meals from scratch etc etc.

Yeah Mike he was I dunno why I never told him straight away to be honest but we often feel like that once we tell someone something we regard as a big deal to us

Win, win situation Steff. Your boss appreciates you and if you should need any considerations re diabetes, you can ask. It is nice to know that he thinks highly of you and that you love your job.
How about a dish on the menu that is diabetes friendly? We always see vegan as a special but diabetes might be something he would think about.

WOW Steff that is great!!!....when i told my boss 6 months ago he just looked at me with a blank face if to say and?.....even now it's like i never told him...in short he does not care!!!

It can be hard to tell the boss important things, but it pays. Having had the other kind of boss I know how nice it is to have a supportive boss, one that really cares about their staff. Your boss sounds supportive ahd helpfull, which is brilliant.

your very lucky with your boss...I approached mine a few weeks ago and said i might be diabetic just to test the air really..I said im going for blood test next week...His reply was "do you think you will be fit enough to do your job" Im a plasterer and have never been fitter...I went in last week and said i have got the all clear...Hes happy that im well...No one at work or my mates know about my diabetes so i just come on here and learn what i need to....
