Just realised that two years ago today K was Dx with Diabetes.
We can never 'celebrate' as some do - two days later my wonderful FIL died after a short illness. He was in a different hospital to K so my poor OH did not know whether he was coming or going. He had to make the decision by himself to turn off his Dad's life support.
During the last two years we have had to get used to life with Diabetes, with K's cataracts, underactive thyroid, anxiety and depression. All of these without the support we know we would have had from her dear grandads (my own Dad died 3 weeks before K's Dx). We also 'lost' our 19 year old cat - insignificant to some maybe, but K had recently described this to her councillor as like loosing a sibling (she is an only child).
This is not a 'poor me' (or even a 'poor K') post.
It is a ' we are not going to let this or anything else beat us' post. We would rather not have anything else to cope with, but if we do we will not give up.I
do sometimes envy people when they post (on FB and other places) how proud
they are at how well their child is coping with D, and when people say they
don't let D stop them doing what they want. But if I have learned anything these last two years it is -
It is not 'weak' to admit you need help, and there are always places you can go to get it
This forum is one of those places, and one of the best 🙂 I just wanted to say thank you for all your support since I joined.
Heres to a bright future!
