Hey all.. wow it's been a while.. I'm so sorry I've been rubbish at getting on here.. I dont get much time with a baby Haha.

No excuses though!..

So I have a weird issue.. earlier I went low at 2.3... I treated it but was so hungry I m had 4 bourbons and was gonna to treat the high level after ... so when I checked it 2hrs later was anticipating 10 or above... it was 5.3..
An hour later went down to 3.6 again so I treated it.. 10 mins later was only 3.8.. only now is it slightly going up but now I'm paranoid as to a) why is it not going up and b) am I going to massively spike later?

Help would be most appreciated!

Thank you xx

Prolonged steady exercise or alcohol can do that I believe. Do either of those options apply?
Other options .... are you sure you bolussed the correct amount and or calculated carbs correctly? Could you have given yourself a double dose of basal by mistake?

If you do go high, don't correct it until lunchtime tomorrow because the liver might draw some of it back and if you do a correction tonight or ar breakfast tomorrow, it could result in another hypo through the night or tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much you really know your stuff.. think I spiked at 12 in the end overnight.. I'll keep an eye on it today.. was just so strange.

Xxx

That sounds perfectly normal to me, not weird at all - my blood sugar does things like that all the time! I think it's just a result of being sensitive to insulin and also sensitive to exercise.
What are your ratios of insulin to carbs?

Oh really? Thanks for your reply clockwork dodo, it was just weird because I thought the bourbons would have sent it up more..

My ratio is about 1.1 atm, since having my baby last year I've struggled to know exactly what it is.. I must admit a lot of the time I hope for the best... just a bit of trial and error maybe..

These bodies hey! Lol xx

Oh goodness, that doesn't sound as though it's insulin sensitivity then - my ratios can be anything up to 1:28.

I have had hypos though where I've treated the hypo and then either stayed hypo and had to treat it several more times, or treated it and then needed to eat lots of biscuits to stay over 4, which I've suspected were something to do with my liver needing more reserves of glucose, so it may have been something similar for you.
