A new study confirming that you probably need to keep taking Ozempic/Wegovy etc for the long term.

Conclusions

One year after withdrawal of once-weekly subcutaneous semaglutide 2.4 mg and lifestyle intervention, participants regained two-thirds of their prior weight loss, with similar changes in cardiometabolic parameters. Findings confirm the chronicity of obesity and suggest ongoing treatment is required to maintain improvements in weight and health.

“At week 68, treatments (including lifestyle intervention) were discontinued.”

Seems like semaglutide really helped for some people, far above lifestyle intervention alone - but if they just went back to ‘business as usual’ they put the weight back on.

Several members here who have taken it have noted a distinct loss of appetite during treatment, which may be part of the picture, I guess?

Check this out for IMO really interesting reading on semaglutide and new drugs in the pipeline: https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/guyenet-on-weight-loss-meds.95831/

Yeah I was warned that when I stopped taking it I’d feel hungry all the time, but that my hunger may be stronger than it was before I started ozempic, because it would be compared to the period of reduced hunger whilst I took it.
