Trying to control my carb intake but it seems that my readings are still over the 2 mark 2 hours later, also im losing weight, is this because im having less carbs, tried upping the carbs to gain some weight but then my readings go through the roof, caught the dreaded covid disease just over a month ago (no stay in hospital just isolation ) anyone know if this will have had any effect. Thanks.

Have you tried reducing the portion of the carbs to see if that makes a difference, sometimes the portion size makes a difference.

Hi. It's always possible that you are in fact a late onset T1 and not T2 as you say you are losing weight and increasing the carbs makes your BS shoot up. If you are slim then do ask the GP for the two T1 tests. Yes, the Covid may be the problem and not the diagnosis. Are you on any diabetes medication?

What do you mean 'over the 2 mark' ? please.

My readings before and after each meal, an increase of more than 2. Thanks

Depending on any other heath problems you could likely try eating a bit more protein and fat - for instance if you take milk, swap it to full fat - or use single cream instead. Don't cut the fat off meat, add cheese to this or that (Protein and fat) - it's only carb that diabetic bodies struggle with handling - not fat or protein and no, dietary fat will NOT increase your blood cholesterol or reducing it, reduce that. Not suggesting you eat like Jack Spratt's wife in the old nursery rhyme - just a bit more than you might now.
