Type 2
Hi all. First time posting. I was diagnosed with Type 2 last June just over the pre-diabetic threshold.i was put on Metaformin immediately. My question is can anyone recommend a weight loss plan/app which helps them track food every day. I've done WW and Slimming World in the past which do work but are they right for helping with T2. I really need some guidance with day to day stuff. Thanks in advance

Hi @JoJo257, I didn't use any apps, just the Carb and Cals pocket counter and an A5 note book and pen. I still use it. Just mark down what I eat and the carbs and calories in separate columns, and my BG level 2 hours after eating. I no longer test after every meal as I know what I can eat, but instead I now add my daily calorie use from my fitbit as I'm on maintenance and need to balance the amount of calories I use against what I eat to avoid putting weight on again.
I used Slimming World successfully decades ago, but now I follow a very low carb diet which isn't what you really get with WW or SW.
You may want to look at the thread "What did you eat yesterday". There are some really good ideas which may help. There may also be people along soon who know of apps etc. Being a bit of a Luddite I'm much happier with paper and pen! Best of luck 🙂

You can use (my fitness pal) its a free site, its calorie counting and it will show how much of your diet is carbs, protein etc.

Nutracheck costs around £30 for a full year, its again calorie counting and there's around 6 diets to choose from..

Eating fewer carb so your blood glucose becomes normal is apparently the easy way to control type 2 for quite a few people. It is easiest to do using a meter to test your blood after eating.
A weight loss plan would not be much use for glucose control as losing weight might reduce levels of glucose but if it is not low carb most type 2s would find it rather onerous and would need to go low calorie and maybe repeat the dieting from time to time, but low carb seems to give consistently good and rapid results with very little effort - or at least, that is what I have found.
