A NEW weight-management programme designed to tackle the obesity crisis through education, exercise programmes and access to healthy foods in the local community, is being rolled out in GP surgeries across Bridgend.
Public Health Wales is working in partnership with ABM University Health Board and Cwm Garw GP Practice to deliver the specialised, supportive programme in a bid to help lower obesity levels through diet and exercise.
The programme was developed as an urgent response to growing levels of obesity in the area ? Bridgend has higher numbers of obese or overweight people than the current Welsh average of 57% of adults classified as obese or overweight.
