When I was diagnosed as T2 almost exactly a year ago my H1bA1c was 12.5, so not good to say the least. However, two tests in recent months put it at 5.9 (approx), which I have to say is a really good change. As a result I am now only on metformin. However, I have a question, since my blood sugars got better my weight has stablised and more recently rose moderately. I am not a medical doctor, but I asssume this would be normal as blood sugar management improves.

In general I keep calories and carbs in check, and in particular sugar. I am now thinking of taking up more exercise, but was advised by my doctor to wait until I have been to the cardiologist.

Well done on your progress so far @diatribe

Weight loss can certainly be associated with improvements in HbA1c (especially if it involves a loss of visceral fat, and/or improvements in insulin sensitivity).

Good luck with your exercise plan! What are you hoping to introduce?
