Morning, hope you are all well.
What I've learned so far, my body doesn't like tomato, can't even tolerate 1 small slice of seeded bread,( no real issue as I usually don't eat it) just wanted to check.
I love konjak noodles, test strips cost a fortune and boy am I going through them.
Best of all metaformin side effects have nearly gone lol.
This is my life now, be positive accept it and do my best.
Have a fantastic Saturday xx

Depending on what monitor you have, there may be alternatives with cheaper strips. The cheapest I know is the GlucoNavil with test strips at £13 for 100 (Amazon) so may be cheaper in the long run to replace your monitor.

Hey I have the gluconavii it's me testing too much I guess I will learn eventually to read my body

Hi. When and how often are you testing .
I am pleased to hear your Metformin tum has nearly gone .

Hopefully in time you may find that some things your body can’t tolerate now, you may find you can eat a little of .

Ok you have the most economical one. So as Ljc suggests look at your testing regime and make sure it is giving you worthwhile information.

First thing in the morning, before and after breakfast, lunch and dinner, a wee bit obsessed I think x

I did exactly the same as you plus pre bed. Logged all the numbers, the food I ate and the carb total (from the Carbs & Cals book/app). It was hugely helpful. I still check waking levels but not so much at other times unless it's food I've not eaten. Once you know your tolerance levels you hopefully will feel more confident. I'm seeing it as a way of eating for life not a diet but can still flex it when required. Good luck!

That seems a sensible regime but if you are having the same or similar meals then after checking a couple of times that they suit you then you would not really need to test again for that meal. Just then test for something new. Keeping a good record of readings along side to meal and portion size is good practice.

Yes that's what I'm doing I'm mixing it up a bit, I'm try to lose weight so calorie counting but not obsessive about it, I'm even trying veggie recepies, which I'm enjoying x

Hi Anbemcc,

Good to hear that you've been able to do some investigating into what works for you. In time you'll develop a bank of food and meals that work well for you so keep testing.

Re testing your blood, it's good to get info but usually testing in the morning and two hours after a meal is sufficient.

I think it can be really helpful to invest in an intensive ‘learning phase’ to begin with. Then you can drop right back to a ‘maintenance phase’ once you have a basic understanding of how your regular meals work with your diabetes. 🙂
