Does anyone know if a urine test needs to be a fasting one or just normal??

thanks

As far as I know it's usually the first wee of the morning, midstream. I've never been asked to fast first, although you've usually not eaten anything because you (should!) have been asleep for several hours previously.

Fasting's generally only for your fasting blood glucose blood test (funnily enough) and for lipids.

Urine tests are non-fasting. They usually want you to catch the stream mid-flow, as it were.

never been asked to fast for a urine test, not even when I was pregnant!

thanks thats brilliant - i really wasnt sure. the reason i asked was when i went for my blood test she asked if i had brought a sample. so i wasnt sure if both needed to be fasting 🙂
