We all scream for ice cream

KetoKitchenlytham, a low-carb smorgasbord of naughty food ? -- I'm not sure? It sounds too good to be true, especially the lowest-carb ice cream on the block and those chocolate brownies --- Ahhhhhh

I use quite a few Keto recipes as they are low carb and allow me to substitute for certain dishes particularly sweeter ones like biscuits and cake. I have not tried to make ice cream and haven't looked for a recipe, but perhaps I might do that with it being so hot. Frozen yoghurt is the other one I would be keen on as well.

I have such a sweet tooth and that includes ice cream. I was given some advice by a nurse that a way to manage the ice cream thing, is to buy a box of mini magnums (6 in a box) and with my OH eat them over the weekend and that will be that. So far it has worked. Good luck with the recipes.

Normal ice cream is quite low carb. Take my favourite one mackies. It’s 19g carb in 100g. That very easily fits a decent amount of ice cream into a 130g / day low carb diet.

Why eat them over the weekend? They’re only 13g carb each so just have one when you fancy one through the week not all in the weekend

Even a full size magnum is only 22g carbs, not too bad as an occasional treat.

Oh, no... need some rules otherwise I will simply buy more and more.

One box per week, to be eaten whenever through the week not all at the weekend.

'occasional treat'? Hmm, probably best for me to have some rules and stick to them

Larry does the shopping usually, so he won't buy them unless I ask him to.

Copied from an earlier thread:

I hardly ever have ice cream at home (though a few varieties are always in the freezer) but I do love it as a holiday treat, complete with waffle cone. I don’t know if its because it’s usually eaten in warmer weather… the fat in it slowing the carbs… or that it’s usually when walking/out and about, but half the time I find I barely need to bolus for them. Or if I do, then it’s a very conservative estimate of the available carbs.

Yum.

We always have it in the freezer. Neither of us gets fixated about anything food wise these days, though I don't think we ever have. Just a thing there's always some of, like frozen peas.

Real ice cream is almost zero carbs - it is only the addition of sugar - the cheapest ingredient, which makes commercial ice cream 'dangerous' for us.
